Curriculum vitae
Principal Data Scientist at Camgenium, Cambridge, UK. Full publication list on the publications page.
Experience
- Jul 2023 – Present
-
Principal Data Scientist
Camgenium
Data science for medical-device applications.
- Developed and deployed machine learning models, turning complex algorithms into tools healthcare professionals can actually use.
- Established the data science workflows behind model validation and deployment.
- Implemented a custom vector store and RAG system to support data-driven decision-making in healthcare.
- Jun 2017 – Jul 2023
-
Post-doctoral Research Associate
Sainsbury Laboratory, University of Cambridge
Multiscale modelling of the processes underpinning morphogenesis in plant systems, in the group of Prof. Henrik Jönsson.
- Sep 2014 – May 2017
-
Post-doctoral Research Associate
Computational and Systems Biology, John Innes Centre
Research into leaf development, in the groups of Dr Verônica Grieneisen (2014–2016) and Dr Stan Marée (2016–2017).
- Built image- and data-analysis tools and models to characterise the processes underpinning leaf growth, combining time-lapse imaging, computational image analysis and mathematical modelling.
- Collaborated with the group of Prof. Mike Bevan to characterise growth phenotypes in a mutant of a gene thought to underpin crop yields.
- Started a collaboration between Prof. Richard Morris's group and Sheffield, pairing stomatal biomechanics data with a finite-element model of stomatal dynamics.
Education
- Apr 2010 – Aug 2014
-
PhD, Plant Biophysics
University of Sheffield
Thesis: In vivo analysis of plant cell mechanics using atomic force microscopy and modelling. Supervised by Prof. Andrew Fleming (Animal and Plant Sciences) and Prof. Jamie Hobbs (Physics and Astronomy).
- Developed atomic force microscopy techniques for measuring plant cell wall mechanics, focusing on the wall mechanics behind stomatal function.
- Modelled the effect of auxin influx transporters on auxin distribution in the leaf margin, and on the development of leaf shape.
- Oct 2004 – Jul 2009
-
MPhys (Hons), Theoretical Physics
University of Sheffield
Dissertation: Analytical and numerical study of reaction–diffusion kinetics of phoretic nano-swimmers, supervised by Prof. Ramin Golestanian. Quantum and statistical mechanics, mathematical physics and non-linear dynamical systems.
